CIPPIC Submits Letter to ITU on DRM and Developing Countries
| February 26, 2005
CIPPIC has provided a letter to Mark Jeffrey, Rapporteur to the Working Party 6M of the International Telecommunications Union, for inclusion in an ITU Report on Digital Rights Management. The letter focuses on the suitability of DRM technologies for developing nations, and concludes that "DRM and anti-circumvention laws are dangerous to the economic, cultural and sovereign interests of developing nations and should be embraced by such nations cautiously, if at all."
