Massive Coalition from Canada's Art Community Calls for Balanced Copyright

| June 06, 2006
Appropriation Art, a Coalition of Art Professionals, comprising over 500 of most gifted artists as well as influential members of the wider arts community, has launched a website and published an Open Letter addressed to the Ministers of Canadian Heritage and Industry calling on the Canadian government to adopt balanced copyright laws. The Coalition's message is built around three core principles: 1. Fair access to copyright material lies at the heart of copyright; 2. Artists and other creators require certainty of access: Canada must shift away from fair dealing and adopt fair use; and 3. Anti-circumvention laws should not outlaw creative access. - Coalition Website - Open Letter - Media Release
