Human Rights Tribunal slams hate sites

| March 10, 2006
The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal issued a landmark decision today, finding two men liable for communicating hate speech on their websites, and fining them a total of $13,000, including $5,000 damages to the complainant. In Warman v. Kulbashian et al, the tribunal found that two white supremacists were spreading hatred about blacks and Jews on their websites and via a web-hosting service run by one of the men. The websites were shut down after the Canadian Jewish Congress complained about them four years ago.
