CIPPIC opposes merger of federal Info and Privacy Commissioners

This past summer, the Prime Minister appointed retired Supreme Court Justice Gerard LaForest to assess the merits of merging the currently separate Offices of the Information and Privacy Commissioners of Canada. Justice LaForest is currently consulting with stakeholders and drafting a report, due Nov.15th, for consideration by the Minister of Justice. CIPPIC wrote to Justice LaForest, opposing the merger.
