CIPPIC client wins important privacy case

In a recent precedent-setting case, the Alberta Privacy Commissioner ruled that a public-sector employer violated that province's privacy laws by surreptitiously monitoring an employee's computer usage, without reasonable justification either for the covert nature of the monitoring or for using such highly intrusive monitoring methods. The complainant represented himself in this proceeding, on the basis of legal advice provided by CIPPIC.
